Story

While living in Amsterdam, I had the chance to stay in an amazing apartment, furnished by my landlord herself, as she does interior design. Knowing how beautiful her work is, I couldn't help myself from asking about a web reference and I was happy to hear that she did not have one.

That is because it created the opportunity to start a lovely journey towards this classy website, that I am really proud of, as it is also my first solo project where I worked on everything, from design to code. I hope you enjoy it.

Process

Since we're talking about interior design, I believe that materials carry a huge deal of emotions. That is why most of the discovery phase was accomplished through a series of moodboards that were created in such a way to capture emotions from the environment and convert them into an art direction.

This, combined with a few personal sessions with Roos helped a lot in answering critical questions and set a scene for a very clear path, that became the branding guideline after which I created the layouts, the design systems and everything that you can see in the latest version.

Design

The design itself didn't go through many transformations. The fact that the vision was very clear from the start made it very easy to keep a consistent feeling across all pages and to materialize the main components that were going to compose the theme of the website. These ones were ebony, champagne and gold.

A huge key differentiator that made the development process go much smoother than usual is the fact that before I even started working on the designs, I created a small design system for myself, that helped me keep things consistent and clean. There are a few differences between the designs and the actual outcome, mainly small layout changes here and there. But the feeling and vibe of the whole experience is exactly how I envisioned it from the start. What a journey this was!

Result

The current status of the project is that it is awaiting content. As you will see from the actual live version, most of the content is still a placeholder. As soon as I will receive actual content (text and images), then I will be extremely proud to see it live and to fulfill the purpose of shining a spotlight on Roos's work just as I intended for it to.

Still, even without the project being fully live, I can share the latest version for you to take a peak. I hope you will enjoy checking this project as much as I had fun creating it.
